It's MLB opening day, and the Rangers just took the field in Arlington. There's a lot about baseball that appeals to puzzlers like us. First of all, you know we love outdoor competition. Secondly, there's something about a game built on statistics that gets our nerve endings firing. 

In celebration, we created a puzzle that's all about baseball, by which I mean it's just barely about baseball. Check it out.

A lot of movie titles include the names of Major League Baseball teams. The films clued below only include SINGULAR versions of team names. You know that feature in Google autocomplete that reveals what people are searching for? You type the letter J and suddenly it’s all jiffy lube? jonas brothers? jason momoa? Like, thank you, but gimme a second! It’s a little unnerving, but also pretty revealing. I thought it’d be fun to see what sort of Dallas-related questions came up, and do my best to answer a few of them. Ready? Off we go!

​What does the name dallas mean?
Well we looked into this last time, and didn’t find out much. OK, we are off to a bad start.
 
What does a dallas cowboy cheerleader make?
This one is tough to find out as the team is pretty vague about it. But most estimates put it around a low, low $100 a game. It’s typically not a full time job! 

​What is dallas known for?
Anyone who’s gone on a scavenger hunt in Dallas can tell you how much they’ve learned about the art, the architecture, and the history. Anyone who’s ever hung out after a scavenger hunt can tell you about the food. But mostly, Dallas is known for one thing: slapping stars on everything in sight.

Central, which means we don't have to stay up till a horrible hour to watch Monday Night Football, or even Saturday Night Live.

I am not sure what you mean. This might be a comment on the Cowboys’ quality of play, but if it’s actually about the aroma? You wrong. Dallas smells like a mix of burnt ends, pecans, hairspray, Corny Dogs, queso, and whatever Vineyard Vines polos smell like. Though if you buy one of those Dallas Homesick Candles, it apparently smells like Grapefruit, Bergamot, Leather, Smoke. Ah, bergamot. Quintessential Dallas, right?

Why does dallas not have heb?
Great question! We get Central Market, HEB’s bougie sibling, but the closest HEB is down in Waxahachie. Road trip anyone?
